Conquest: Old Dominion: Xhiliarch
The Old Dominion army was known for its professional structure, especially in its officer corps. A Xhiliarch, commanding a thousand soldiers, was both elected by his troops and trained by the Dominion. Only those who had previously achieved the rank of Centurion were eligible to become Xhiliarchs. Upon election, these officers traveled to Capitas to receive rigorous training in grammar, arithmetic, and logistics, developing the professional leadership skills needed to dominate the continent. Their high rank ensured that they were buried with great honor and ceremony, their embalming and interment rituals far more elaborate than those of ordinary Legionnaires. As a result, when these Xhiliarchs were resurrected as undead vessels by the unGod, they retained their cognitive abilities, unlike the Legionnaires who only retain a faint shadow of their former selves.
