Categories: Abstract Strategy, Puzzle
Mechanics: Open Drafting, Solo/Solitaire Game, Tile Placement
Players: 1–4
Ages: 8+
Playtime: 30 Min
The game "Framework" features a total of 120 tiles divided into 60 "simple" and 60 "complex" tiles. Each player starts with 22 tokens. On each turn, the lead player draws and reveals a mix of simple and complex tiles, providing one additional tile than the number of players. Players then choose a tile in turn, with the lead player taking the final tile.
When selecting a tile, place it next to at least one existing tile in your display. After placing a tile, check for any completed tasks on your tiles. Each completed task is marked with a token. Tiles feature 0-3 frames and 0-3 tasks, each in four different colors. For example, a task might require a green 3, which means you need a set of three tiles with green frames, either directly or connected orthogonally.
Tasks can involve multiple colors, such as red and brown, allowing the use of either color to fulfill the requirement. Alternatively, tasks might require specific quantities, like 4 yellow or 4 brown. Some tasks are conditional, requiring the completion of one task before another can be fulfilled.
The first player to place all their tokens wins. "Framework" also offers a solo mode where you aim to place all tokens in a tile area as close to a 5x5 grid as possible.
