The Tyrant module will be included in the upcoming Great Battles of Alexander - Expanded Deluxe Edition, but it is also available separately for those who already own the previous edition.

Tyrant is a tactical simulation focusing on the combat between the armies of Carthage and Syracuse from 480-276 B.C. To use Tyrant, you will need the Great Battles of Alexander - Expanded Deluxe Edition for maps, basic rules, and some counters, or you can play it using the Simple Great Battles of History Rules.

Long before Hannibal Barca's famous conflict with Rome, Carthage and Syracuse fought for dominance in the Western Mediterranean. Tyrant features twelve key battles from these historic wars. The armies of Syracuse, similar to mainland Greek hoplite forces but with superior cavalry and a strong mercenary presence, faced Carthage's North African tribal levies and mercenaries from across the Mediterranean. Carthage often had Greek allies and mercenaries, while Syracuse's open field successes were countered by Carthage's wealth, political stability, and naval power.

Despite Syracuse's advantages in battle, the protracted conflict ended without a clear victor, as Rome eventually emerged during the First Punic War to claim supremacy.
