Pike & Shotte: Christian IV Of Denmark
Christian IV, King of Denmark and Norway, was a complex figure. While known for his flaws – excessive drinking, gambling, and even witch hunts – he was also a driven and ambitious ruler, popular with his people and reigning for an impressive 59 years.
His involvement in the Thirty Years’ War was characteristic of his personality. He sought to expand his power in Holstein, despite ultimately failing, and his popularity at home even grew after his defeat. He established a powerful navy, the Danish East India Company, and numerous merchant cities, while strengthening the bond between Denmark and Norway.
Despite his age, he showed great bravery and resilience during the Torstensson War, eventually bowing to Swedish demands but remaining beloved by his subjects.
This miniature set features a metal model of Christian IV on horseback, ready for you to assemble and paint.
