Age of Reason games encompass board wargames and historical games—including expansions and promotional editions—set between the late 17th and late 18th centuries, roughly from 1690 to 1789. This period, known as the Age of Reason, began around 1690 with the widespread adoption of the socket bayonet by major European armies and concluded in 1789 with the onset of the French Revolutionary Wars, which paved the way for the Napoleonic Wars.
