Force Commitment | Board Game Mechanic ⁽⁴⁾

The players select how many of their forces they will commit to the battle to different categories. This can be simultaneous (hidden) or incrementally, prior to resolution. Frequently players must lose all forces that they commit. Arguably this is a form of auction/bidding, but distinctive when applied to war or area control games for multiple/parallel contests.
