Blood Red Skies: Soviet Ace Pilot: Vladimir Pokrovsky

Soviet pilot Vladimir Pokrovski joined the fight against the Nazi invasion in June 1941. He achieved his first aerial victory, a Ju 88 bomber, just two months later. He served with the Northern Fleet Air Force during the chaotic early years of the war, flying a diverse range of aircraft, including the I-16, Hurricane, P-40 Kittyhawk, P-39 Airacobra, and the Yak-1b. Pokrovski was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union in July 1943, surviving the war with twelve personal victories and six shared victories over 350 combat missions.
