The Fighter of World War II P-51B - Academy 12464

1943 saw the introduction of a new US fighter in Europe, the North American P-51 B (built in Inglewood, CA), and the identical C (built in Dallas, TX). On May 5, 1943, the B variant flew first; on August 5, 1943, the C variant took its first flight. 1,988 B variants were produced, while only 1,750 C variants came off the assembly line. On December 1, 1943, the P-51B Mustang participated in its initial combat mission. It would go on to cover bombers to Berlin in March of 1944. This Academy kit with over 65 plastic parts faithfully recreates the American P-51B fighter in 1:72 scale.
