Playtime: 20–40 Min
Every summer, the town of Águeda, Portugal, transforms into a vibrant arts festival with colorful umbrellas adorning the streets and decorated lamp posts, murals, and art installations throughout the city. In Águeda: City of Umbrellas, players become festival artists, decorating the city streets with their own colorful umbrellas to attract the most tourists.
As an artist, you must balance the demands of the city, shops, and tourists to create the most captivating umbrella display. Players draft tiles from a central board and place them on their personal street board. After arranging your umbrellas, you'll choose one or two tourists to place in one of your three rows of umbrellas to score that row. Strategic placement will unlock sections of your tourist map, adding more tourists to your pool.
The game concludes when a player fills their board, with scoring based on both standard board placement rules and communal "Shop" cards featuring varying objectives.
Agueda: City of Umbrellas accommodates 1 to 5 players and is inspired by the real-life Umbrella Sky Project festival in Águeda, Portugal. Collaborating with the Umbrella Sky Project, 25th Century Games has incorporated the festival's annual tourist maps into the game and provided cultural consultancy for an authentic experience.
