The year is 1940. Japan is asserting its military power in China amidst escalating global political tension. In Europe, France is on the brink of collapse, and Asia prepares for the ensuing upheaval. With Holland occupied by Germany, its resource-rich colonies in the Dutch East Indies are left vulnerable to the oil-deprived Japanese Empire. French Indo-China is on the verge of being overrun by Japanese land, sea, and air forces. Britain faces an ultimatum from Japan: close the Burma Road or face war. In response, the United States imposes an embargo on strategic materials. The stage is set for a dramatic escalation.
