Don’t be fooled by the appearance of the Victorian-era British Redcoat. This seemingly average soldier, often shorter than 5’5”, was a formidable force on the battlefield. Armed with the powerful Martini-Henry rifle, he could fire 15 rounds a minute at ranges up to 1200 yards. His legendary discipline, marching endurance, and fierce determination made him a terrifying opponent.

Led by skilled officers, these well-equipped and trained soldiers spread the British Empire across the globe, using their rifles and bayonets to crush their enemies.

Supporting the British Army were the Natal Native Contingents, drawn from the Basuto and Mponso tribes. These skilled warriors were instrumental in defending against Zulu forces, having a long history of fighting them.
