The Book of Rooms is the first expansion for Bluebeard’s Bride, a tabletop role-playing game where players collectively embody the Bride as she explores the haunting depths of Bluebeard’s home. This supplement enriches the game by offering a collection of intricately detailed rooms, each designed to captivate and terrify Bluebeard’s new Bride. Perfect for use at the table, these fully illustrated chambers are packed with everything a Groundskeeper needs, including ominous threats, mysterious objects, and lurking horrors.

Some highlights include:

  • The Tea Room: A stifling space crammed with cabinets of delicate, hand-painted china. Blue floral damask wallpaper envelops every surface, and the air feels suffocating. An inviting, iridescent blue sofa tempts anyone who gazes upon it to surrender to its comfort.
  • The Kitchen: A wide, uneven stone-floored room with an ancient metal oven by a faintly smoking fireplace. A cold stewpot hangs nearby, while a rotund man dozes in a chair at the center table. His ill-fitting apron and chef’s hat add to his unsettling presence, while a cleaver tied to his belt scrapes the floor with each labored breath.
  • The Bathhouse: Filled with the cloying scent of perfumed oils, this steamy room features a steel drain shaped like lush foliage. Strange, soft whines emanate from below, and warm mist rises from the pipes. Reaching through the drain's ornate slats, you feel a soft, wet mass hidden beneath.

Based on the Powered by the Apocalypse system, used in games like Apocalypse World and Monsterhearts, Bluebeard’s Bride delivers immersive, adult feminine horror akin to stories like Crimson Peak, American Horror Story, and The Company of Wolves. It’s an ideal choice for fans of dark fairy tales and psychological horror.
