Bolt Action: British & Inter-Allied Commandos Starter Army
The Commandos earned an extraordinary reputation for courage and daring during World War II. Established in 1940 by British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, their mission was to take the fight directly to the German forces, who had easily defeated the British Expeditionary Force in France. This all-volunteer force drew recruits from across the military branches, including Army, Navy, and the Inter-Allied Commando regiment, which comprised soldiers from Belgium, Poland, the Netherlands, and other nations.
Commandos served in a wide range of campaigns across Europe, Burma, and Africa, earning numerous battle honors for their daring actions, including what is considered one of the greatest raids of the war – the St Nazaire raid. Commandos operated in various formations, from small units of less than a full section to full assault divisions, depending on the mission. With superb training, aggression in combat, excellent equipment, and deadly hand-to-hand combat skills, they were feared by German, Italian, and Japanese forces.
