"Bonsai: Vigorous Growth and Specialists" introduces two optional modules that can be added to the Bonsai game, either separately or together.

The 'Vigorous Growth' module features three triple tiles, each labeled with a "3," "4," or "5" on the back. This module allows players to accelerate their bonsai tree's growth by acquiring special tiles. At the start of your turn, you can discard the number of cards indicated on an available triple tile to obtain it. After flipping the tile, place it in your bonsai so that at least one of its four wooden sides touches an existing bonsai wood tile, then proceed with your turn as normal. The discarded cards must all be of different types—Growth, Tool, Helper, Master, or Parchment—and can come from your play area or deck. These discarded cards are permanently removed from the game and do not contribute to any end-game victory points. Each player is limited to one triple tile per game, and once a tile is taken, it is no longer available.

The 'Specialists' module includes a game board and four declaration tokens. In this module, players can declare themselves as cultivation specialists—but must prove it by game’s end. Once per game, at the beginning of your turn, you can declare that you will have the most tiles of a specific type in your bonsai by the end of the game. Choose a tile type (wood, leaf, flower, or fruit) and select an unoccupied space on the specialists' board. Stack a number of tiles of the chosen type from your supply onto that space, equal to the number indicated there, and place your declaration token on top, ensuring the tile type remains visible. The declaration token and the tiles underneath it cannot be moved or used after placement. You can declare the same tile type as another player if you wish.

Note: This module is not compatible with solo play.
