In most traditional tabletop RPGs, adventures often begin with a familiar premise: something bad occurs, and the players must find the courage to stop it. Whether it's rescuing a kidnapped dog from a troll, preventing an assassination at a royal wedding, or rallying an army to disrupt a world-ending ritual, the heroes always rise to the occasion. After all, what kind of heroes would they be if they let the dog, the duke, or the entire population perish? While saving the day is thrilling, it can start to feel repetitive over time. If your sessions follow the "bad guys cause trouble, good guys stop them" formula, you're stripping away player agency. The cycle of bad events happening and good people stepping in to stop them can quickly become a monotonous loop.
