An in-depth analysis of two of the most prominent air and land weapons used on the Eastern Front during World War II. In late 1942, in response to the growing number of Soviet tanks, the German air ministry authorized the modification of the Junkers Ju 87D-5 Stuka dive-bomber. This adaptation involved fitting the aircraft with two underwing pods carrying 37 mm BK cannon—antiaircraft guns originally designed in 1933. The sturdy, slow Ju 87 airframe made it an ideal platform for low-level "tank-killing" missions.

Despite the considerable experience of the Luftwaffe's ground-attack aces, taking out T-34 tanks from the air proved a challenging task. However, some Stuka pilots managed impressive tank kills, and the Ju 87 is credited with destroying over 100 tanks across the central and southern fronts, including during the Battle of Kursk.

The book features personal accounts from Stuka pilots, profiles of anti-tank aces, detailed photographs of the Ju 87G's cannon installation, and specially commissioned artwork showcasing the T-34's construction. It offers a thorough exploration of the clash between two iconic World War II machines.
