The English Parliament, fed up with King Charles I’s increasingly oppressive rule, rose up to challenge his absolute authority. When the King dissolved Parliament and declared war, the Parliamentarian “Roundheads,” led by Cromwell, Fairfax, and Essex, took up arms to fight for a just and equitable government. This set brings to life some of the key figures of this struggle: Oliver Cromwell, Sir Thomas Fairfax, Sir Arthur Haselrig, Sir William Waller, and the Earl of Essex.
