Pike & Shotte: Sir William Waller
Waller, a strong supporter of Parliament, quickly rose to prominence during the English Civil War. He raised his own cavalry regiment, captured Portsmouth, and learned valuable lessons from the Roundhead defeat at Edgehill. He spent the early years of the war securing key strategic locations and fighting in the West, securing victories at Bristol and Hingham House. Despite initial successes, he suffered defeats at Ripple Field and Roundway Down, facing setbacks against larger Royalist forces.
In 1643, Waller was appointed to lead the Southern Association army, achieving a crucial victory at Cheriton, avenging his earlier loss. His forces were later routed at Cropredy Bridge and he ultimately surrendered his commission after the formation of the New Model Army.
This pack includes a single metal miniature of Waller on horseback, ready for you to assemble and paint, bringing him to life on your tabletop battlefield.
